Xerocon 2019 Wrap-Up | What's next to keep you a step ahead in business

by XBert Team ~ 4 min read

XBert founders Steven Ayers, Aaron Wittman and Troy Brown at Xerocon 2019 in Brisbane. Stay a step ahead in business with XBert.

Xerocon was held last week and brought together cloud accounting leaders in Australia, NZ and Asia. Our first-ever Xerocon was a huge success and a hell of a lot of fun.

XBert founders and product owners Troy Brown and Aaron Wittman, along with our senior data scientist Steven Ayers, travelled to Brisbane for a massive week. They met attendees and industry representatives, demonstrated all that XBert has to offer, talked about the future of cloud accounting, and squeezed in the occasional beer.

At Xerocon, we announced our partnership with Bentleys QLD and are excited to be working with such a large and respected firm in the global market. Bentleys' Heath Shonhan hopes to move quickly, adding as many clients as possible to XBert. He recognises the value XBert delivers in finding and resolving risks so that any accounting advice is based on real-time smart data and insights.

Aaron was one of four panellists for the CA QLD event, Conversations and Connections: The Intersection of Accounting and Technology. Heather Smith chaired the event, and the other panellists were Kelly Chard from GrowthMD, Daniel Tramontana from BGL Corporate Solutions, and Colin Hewitt from Float. All leaders in the field and a damn friendly bunch of people.

Troy was also invited to present at the preXerocon Cloud Apps MeetUp. The venue was at full capacity, the mood was high, and everyone was eager to hear about modern accounting technology solutions.

Then came Xerocon!

Over two days, the guys met hundreds of attendees who talked about their work and their practice and any common bookkeeping or reporting problems they face. Everyone was keen to see XBert in action.

The team ran over 160 XBert CONNECT demos over two days.

We're glad that people are as thrilled about these integrated collaboration features as we are!

GST risks - XBert to the rescue

XBert's GST risk alerts became a key discussion point at Xerocon. Everyone wanted to know more and said these alerts are invaluable, so here are a few more details.

XBert connects with the Australian Business Register regularly, so when their records are updated XBert's do too.

Businesses register or deregister for GST at any time. From our discussions, we know you don't have time to continually check contacts' GST status after they've been set up in Xero.

You'll be alerted if there are any discrepancies with the ABR and your records. You'll see these XBerts: Bill Raised with Supplier Business Not Registered for GST and Payment to Supplier Business Not Registered for GST.

XBert will link you directly to the associated ABN Lookup result to confirm. You can then update your contact's details and transaction records accordingly.

XBert notifies you of the risks before you know the risks exist.

You'll save your clients from paying GST unnecessarily, or not paying GST and being liable, incorrect BAS claims, and any withholding tax implications.
